Pumas (Puma concolor) and jaguars (Panthera onca) are the apex predators of Neotropical ecosystems in South America; however, both species are threatened by extinction to some degree through-out this range. Indubitably, the main threats are direct or indirectly related to a single species, another top predator – us. It is of urgent priority to establish actions that may decrease our negative efects upon these keystone species.
